Rudolf

          Catchphrase: “Rudolf with your nose

so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Famous in 1939.

            All about: Rudolf the red nose Reindeer

Was a shy reindeer who was not popular amongst

His fellow reindeer because he was the only one

With a red nose. But one Christmas Eve, Santa

Approached Rudolf  to promote him to head

Reindeer, because his glowing red nose

Could safely guide Santa and the other

Reindeer through the foggy night. Now

Rudolf is the best known of Santa’s nine

Reindeer-and everyone’s favorite too.   

Jack Frost

          Catchphrase: “I love frosticles

And icicles and all things cold!”

            Creator: Russian fairy tale writer

Alexander Afanasyev first wrote about Jack

Frost in 1855.

            All About: Jack Frost, who is also

Known as Father Frost, is an elvish creature

Who brings in the cold winter chill. The Russian

Tale says a woman ordered her stepdaughter out

Into the snow and Jack Frost found her. She was

Kind to him so he showered her with treasure.

 

SCROOGE

          Catchphrase: “Bah Humbug!”
            Creator: Charles Dickens created Scrooge

In 1843.

            All About: Ebenezer Scrooge is a

Wealthy but selfish and cold-hearted man who hates

Christmas- and doesn’t like children either! Scrooge

Is spending Christmas Eve alone, when three ghosts

Visit him- the ghost of Christmas past, the ghost of

Christmas present and the ghost of Christmas future.

These ghost show him why he grew to hate of

Christmas, the effect his hate of Christmas is having

On others and what his life will be like if he doesn’t

Change his miserly ways.

The Grinch

          Catchphrase: “I must find a way to keep

Christmas from coming.”

            Creator: Dr. Seuss rhymed the Grinch

Into life in 1957.

            All About: The Grinch is a grouch whose

Heart is two sizes too small and who hates the

Celebration of Christmas. So, one year, out of jealous,

He plots sabotage Christmas and spoil it for all the

Happy residents of who-ville. He steals everyone’s

Present while they’re asleep, takes the Christmas trees

Out of whoville and ruins all the festive decorations.

But much to his surprise, when the Whos wake up

On Christmas day, they still celebrate by being together.

FROSTY THE SNOWMAN

          Catchphrase: “Catch me if you can!”

            Creator: “ Walter Rollins and Steve Nelson

Dreamed up frosty in 1950.

            All about: Singer Gene Autry had just recorded

The song “Rudolf the red nose reindeer” and it’s sold

Two million of copies. Creator Rollins and Nelson

Saw how well a Christmas jingle about a character

Did, so they came up with a song called “Frosty the

Snowman built by children who, one day, found a

Magical hat that brought to frosty life. Frosty played
